What foods are best to eat after surgery?
To promote healing, protein, a source of essential amino acids is crucial for collagen production, bone remodeling and tissue healing. Lean meats and fish, beans, nuts, seeds, protein rich whole grains such as quinoa.
Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts which all have 40+g/cup
Fruits rich in vitamin C, such as the acerola cherry which has 65 times more than an orange and low in sugar, approx. 10g per cup.
RECIPE TO PROVIDE COMPLETE PROTEIN
Lentils & Brown Rice
2 bunch fresh spinach
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, diced
1 tsp. turmeric, ground
4-6 fresh roma tomatoes, seeded
OR BPA canned diced
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 16oz. pkg Lentil or BPA free canned
2 cups cooked brown rice
Cook lentils per package instructions.
If desired, use vegetable broth instead of water to enhance flavors for both rice and lentils
When semi soft, add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer approx 10 min. and til done.
Canned products will make it quicker and easier but FRESH is BEST!!
KICK YOU OUT OF BED SMOOTHIE
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 tsp. cilantro
1/2 tsp. cayenne
1 scoop plant based protein powder
1 or 2 cups coconut water or milk (slowly added for desired consistency)
This smoothie aids circulation (cayenne), adds vitamin C and nutrients, hydrates and helps to detox heavy metals from your system (cilantro)
